Incredible, October 1, 2010 By Ryan Kelly (Knob Noster, MO) - See all my reviews This review is from: Quantum TourEdition Kevin VanDam Baitcast Reel (Sports) I have owned several nice ($150+) reels in my life, but this one by far is the best. The whole contraption is made from the best stuff on the market and is smooth as polished glass. Casting is a breeze- I tossed a Zara Spook aprox 30 yds with just a flip of my wrist on a 7'6" BPS Nitro XPS. The retrieve is strong and smooth, the handle is carbon fiber to make it lighter without losing strength, and the drag will hold back an ox if you told it to. Setting the brake is easy because you don't have to mess with it much; the spool moves with the lure, stopping when it should (with a little help from your thumb, of course). Aesthetics, though not partial to the performance of the reel, are also important to most, and KVD got it right with the tungsten like metalic cover and blood red accent.
The only cons I have found so far on this reel is that A: It's a little heavier than some, but it's to be expected because of the components. B: It's pretty darn expensive, but it's to be... Read more
